Olicana Textiles was established in 1973 by Ian and Wendy Horton together with their business partners Jack and Audrey Harker.
Ian had been introduced to Jack whilst working as an interior designer – Jack was a salesman. The 2 of them were able to combine their design and sales skills to form the business in Ilkley a Roman town in our home county of Yorkshire.
The name ‘Olicana’ is the Roman name for Ilkley and our logo was designed by Ian representing a roman fortress and incorporating 4 ‘H’s’ (2 surname Horton, 2 surname Harker). From the outset, they worked alongside renowned British designers in their product development. During this time, Olicana Textiles produced fabrics for many worldwide prestigious projects which varied from royal palaces to private residential interiors – and everything between!
Ian and Wendy both have active key roles in the business in which their son and daughter now also work. Today, the company continues to produce some of the original collections together with taking inspiration from them to create a whole new range of fabrics that are widely specified for both domestic and commercial interiors world wide.
